Those are the roads that lead up to Big Bear & Lake Arrowhead. It does snow quite a bit up there and chains are sometimes required. It could get very icy and dangerous at times. Not a good place to cruise around in the winter months. Besides, the traffic during the weekends during the Ski season could be bumper-to-bumper the whole way up.

I use that route very often. That's the road I take when going boarding at Snow Summit or Big Bear. HWY 30 & 18

It's definately a fun and well maintained road to drive on. Although it can get a bit slow during the single lane section (some truck drivers are not courteous enough to use the turn out lane). It's not a good drive during the 9 or 5 hours, everyone and their moms trying to either go to work or go home.

Going down the mtn i've kept up with a C5 Vette with my Type SH...outhandled a new VW GTi VR6 with the GSR and while driving up a Porsche fishtailed and hit the guard rail trying to outrun me (thinking all import owners must want to race ) and nearly got broadsided by a UPS van.

All in all, not a bad idea for a cruise. It's right beside my place, so thats a plus!

i haven't gone to the link yet, but I usually take the back road (38) to BB. Much better road and I can get some serious speed built up back there!

Mountain or Canyon Cruises could be more dangerous than track events since people always get carried away and drive faster and faster. There are many clubs that have had accidents including deaths during their mountain cruises in the Angeles Crest Highway, Ortega Highway, etc. Why not go to a track event instead? It's safer and you will have much more fun.
