Default resonator help get rid of the "rice" sound?

removed the turbo kit and installed a header and intake. started the car and took off... and the car sounded like ****. it has that snappy high pitch sound now. it doesnt have the throaty deep HARD power sound like it used to. when i only had an exhaust on the car before i went turbo, it was deep and loud. now its pretty snappy at WOT. did a resonator help get rid of the high pitchness? it aint as bad as i make it seem like, but it does sound like **** to me.

A resonator pretty much acts like a mid muffler right? Well before I got a cat back system in my Jetta,I had the resonator removed so it was straight pipe.It had that real snappy sound like you said.Might add some restrictions though.
