Default 2000 Civic Si Timing Belt

I'm approaching 60k miles and the dealer says I should replace the timing belt. He says that living in Las Vegas (high temperatures), can cause them to fail sooner.

Does this sound right?

Should/could I wait longer?

How much should a dealer charge?

thanks

check with another dealer becuase it used to be 60 and honda moved up to 90 now.but if you run hard and you have the money switch it now plus the water pump, and i also would change the front main seal all done at the same time.....
