Toda powered ITR dyno - Trackmasters tuned

After putting in some Toda 81.5mm pistons and some Toda 'C's, it was time to take the ITR in for some tuning. Carlos (aka Bubba) dialed in the A/F on the motor, and moved the VTEC point to optimize power output. VTEC ended up at 7,500. He called his DynoJet "Heartbreaker", and it was that
Run #12 is after everything is tuned, and we tried the velocity stack style intake with about 1 1/2 feet of tubing.
Run #13 was made with no changes other than making the intake tubing about 3 feet in length using the same velocity stack.
Run #11 is with the AEM CAI tuned vs Run #13 the velocity stack with 3' of intake tubing.

There is a lot more power in this engine. There is another head on the shelf, along with some Skunk 2 Stage 2 cams, and a couple of headers. More dyno testing will be done on this motor after the drag Civic gets tuned for Pomona this weekend.

Stock bottom end with the exception of the pistons. Head ported and cc'd to 84mm's (was for another motor, but needed a head so I slammed it on) so compression is below Toda's advertised 12.4:1, more like 11.8:1 or so. Eibach valve springs, stock retainers, Toda 'C's as stated before. Comptech 4-2-1 race header with 2 1/2 " collector, stock ITR cat back. AEM CAI, RPM 70-66mm throttle body, AEBS IM, RC 440 cc injectors. Hondata.
After tuning, the car is quick. Butt dyno could feel the flat spot when VTEC kicked in before tuning.
Trackmasters moved the cam gears to +2 on the intake and -2 on the exhaust, but that did not improve the power output much. The increased overlap did make the car idle like ****, so I moved the intake cam back to zero and went +2 on the exhaust when I got home. Car idles like butter now, and may have picked up a couple of HP. The original head from this motor is back from the machine shop, so when there is time, head will be swapped back on. Compression should bump back up to about 12.5:1. Then back to the dyno for more testing. I wish I had my own dyno

Most of the Time less is better....
Nice numbers, But I would of expected More power?
I made 199.7 with stage 1 cams and JDM itr Pistons for example!

Yea he can, on a dyno that reads higher. They call that dyno 'The Slayer' because barly anyone breaks 200's. Ive had friends dyno much higher on one dyno then went there and got the lower readings but a great tuner with it. Dyno's make the difference as you know so that one is infamous for reading lower.

trackmasters dyno reads all low because of the high *** elevation i believe.
omniman made like 227 at dynamic autosports dyno and around 200 i think at trackmasters.

another question I have is why does the power stop in the 8k rpm range? is that just how toda's are? I have jun 3's with hondata and it makes power all the way to 9.4k, is that just the difference in the cams?
incase you would also like to know I made 190 whp with just the cams.

every dyno is different folks, some read a lot higher than others... so before you go saying "you should be making xxx hp", take this into account.

I know this but I have never seen any two dyno's be 10 hp different on any itr. I could be wrong and most likely am but thats just what I have seen. I am no expert.

Each dyno is different ..
Good numbers Todd....
I made 188whp and it was good for 12s ...

...and accomplish what? Gain the right to say he makes 195 whp? Or 200whp? Don't be a bench racer, no one gives two ***** about how much power a motor puts out. If you can't put the power to use, its irrelevant how much of it you have. If you want to fool yourself and brag about numbers, go get dynoed on a Dynapack, you'll be very pleased with your results.
And yes Bubba's dyno is nicknamed the 'Slayer' and the 'Heartbreaker' and the 'Bitch' (That one comes after it breaks a bench racer's heart ofcourse
)
Allmotor18 has the right attitude.

Try close to 20 whp. And yes, I have the graphs to prove it.

you said it best
When i ran my full bodied all motor teg and pomona it made like 205hp & 140 lbs
and it went 12.80's with a 1.80 6ft. So I can care less what my numbers are like I was pretty happy with the time. My motor has a lot more in it

I would like to see that graph. I am going to Church Automotive where I will put down 220
Seriously, I want to go back there (Church) just to compare this motor to my previous graphs there. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Jason

Dynapack. Come worried, leave happy.
And I'm not knocking Dynapacks at all, they are excellent for tuning. They just tend to artificically boost egos.

i dont have the graph on me its at my parents across the country but I can find one before it got retuned......
found it over at hondata. They later retuned it to make 190 wph and bumped cut off to 9.4k rpm I dont know why its not on there
but it was all done at aebs. I really wish I had the other dyno sheet with me it is amazing to look at. maybe in 3 weeks when I go back home and can put some pics up.
also a big gainer for the hp we got the second time was the cat, i guess the car sound the first time was partly clogged so we gutted it.
