Intercooler Air Flow

I know the cooler the air a intercooler receives the better it performs but I plan on using a dsm smic which will be pretty much completely behind my front bumper with no direct flow. Is this a big deal? I could probably rig up a little scoop which forces air up to it but would it really be worth it?

Didn't you just answer your own question? And why do you think most people get FMIC (front mount intercooler)...because it offers a more direct path of fresh air to cool the IC better.

If you have an inter cooler without air flowing over it you might as well not run anything.....
unplug your radiator fan and let the car idle and see how good cooling fins work without air to remove the heat.....6-7 psi wont make that much heat but it will probably run like crap and might even detonate...DSMs suck man..good luck

where exactly do you plan to mount it. if you mount it where the stock resonator location used to be, it should be ok. plenty of sohcs have ran sidemounts there with no problems, esp for low boost. i've personally run with one in my fenderwell with my greddy sohc up to 10psi and no problems
