Default what is an "audio interrupt in lead" and other deck wiring questions

just for clarity this is what i have

a bunch of wires hanging out of the hole in my dash cuz some jizz bag decided he shouldnt pay for his stuff... ohh well thats life for you

i have

power, battery, and ground,

2 front left, 2 front right
2 back left, 2 back right

thats what my old cdplayer used anyway, i also have 2 wires that are identical colour in the back that are not connected to anything ( there maroon with gray ) this is a 98 hatchback if it helps

the cd player in my lap ( donated by a friend) has everything the other connector does and also

1 wire for power antena... but i dont have that so its safe
1 wire for a remote... but again i'm ghetto

but now it has one wire thats labeled "audio interrupt in lead"... what is it? do i need it? my old cdplayer obviously didnt have one connected... any insight is appreciated

also in the plug itself i have an empty hole in a slot designated for "iLLumination" ( strangly spelled with two capital "L"'s... i have no wire for this.. just an empty hole

and so, i have 2 wires in my car that are identical and i have no clue what they do,
1 wire on the cdplayer that i dont know what its for, and one missing alltogether!

lets hit it....

okay...the audio mute is not needed. Its there for any device
that needs to mute the radios audio ( navigation, cell phone)

just to give you a clue the wire code is EIA standard ( the radio is)
do a search for you oem wiring..and match it up with the EIA and your
good to go.

The audio interrupt wire is for muting your speakers when another device tells it to (usually a phone hands free kit etc). This is usually ground activated so if you want a mute button for your head unit you can put a switch between the ground and this wire.
The illumination wire is probably so your headunit dims its display when you turn the lights on, as it doesn't need to be as bright at night time.

cool stuff

well i got the sucker in finaly, after blowing a fuse and not knowing about it... anyway ( thank god for haynes)

i have a small quirk tho... i thought i double checked the wires that were sticking out and those that stem from the deck and i thought i had them all figured out

but now my balance button switches between rear and front, while my fade button alternates between left and right... did i miss something here?

nothings blowing and everything is working, i dont have any back speakers yet but i will very soon,

is this a wiring problem or is the deck itself a little on the drinkie drinkie side?

EDIT: no ****... **** i'm a moron, hot showers sure bring insparation, i just messed up on the wiring, i have it thinking that my 2 fronts are actualy right front and right back....i'll sort it out when i come back... thanks for the info peeps!

Sounds like you got your speaker wires mixed up, double check them.

45w head unit? not that great, depends on what brand because 45w Alpine is more than 45w Sony. You won't run a sub off that anyway.

The wires you are referring to that are coming off the back of the head unit are probably RCA wires which are used for connecting amplifiers. And if you have four wires then you have two sets of RCAs.

As for the deck power being 45watts. This is generally rated at max power output and therefor you are only getting about half that much power going to your speakers all the time(RMS).
