First night shoot: need advice!
Hey everyone, this is the FIRST time I've used my new camera at night ...
The only photoshopped picture is the license plate censoring, otherwise both were resized and that's it.
Yeah that's my car, bone stock ... nothing fancy ... I'm preparing for a few shoots this upcoming summer. Basically I need advice. I regularly surf the HT-Photocrew's site and I'm familiar with some Adobe techniques, but any pointers as far as shooting or shopping go ... TELL ME PLEASE!

Critique them ...
EDIT: I'm also aware I should have had my lights turned OFF, I'll remember that next time. Oh ... and the dent in the trunk - will be fixed soon.

may want to experiment a little more with longer shutter speeds. Also, the first one looks pretty good except that the railing covers up too much of the car, but the lighting in that one is pretty good overall.
Use PS
you can sharpen the images and would suggest brightness and contrast features.
Turn off your parking lights
and the less complex the pic the better (I have found)
practice makes near perfect

Thanks for the advice so far guys! I'm taking the civic out a few more times this week to different locations and playing around with light settings.
Appreciate the advice so far

Keep the parking lights on, I even put the headlights on sometimes. It can create for a more interesting shot. I'd show you what I mean but my host is currently down so I'll post some pics tomorrow for ya.
The car is underexposed so you need to have a longer shutter speed. Considering that you said the camera is 5 megapixels you should be able to adjust all of the manual settings. Also use photoshop to touch up your pictures. As someone already said you can sharpen and also adjust the color curves and even get rid of any debris (rocks, parking spots etc).
Also like already said, get a tripod if you don't have one.

The biggest thing is practice, use shutter speed to your advantage. Take tons of pics and mess with angles, lighting, views etc etc and post what you think is the best work (or anytime you want to ***** it up
)...sounds like your on the right track with a 5mp camera

It's amazing how you can turn that picture into this:

Kinda half-assed it.
But photo editing is great.
Nice camera, btw.

Oh, I used Layers (Color), Gradient Tool (Transperent), and Eraser.

If you're asking me, I used to Gradient tool and layered it.

You can just select it and use hue/saturation too...
Anyway... you didn't take out the front plate in your second pic. Nice night shots though.. why did you have the rail in front of the car.. dunno about that. Also, you need some rims on that bad boy.
