Default timing belt. how much is too loose?

ive done some search and i know the steps on how to do it..

BUT how much slack its ok?? ive read that been able to twist the belt on the cam sprocket and crank pulley side 90 degrees or 1/2 turn its ok... its this right?
been able to slip the belt off the cam sprocket with some minimum hand force sound ok? (new belt)

BTW this is a single cam .. d16z6 to be exact. i would ask on the eg forum. but there is absolutely no tech on that forum

oh yea one more thing. it sounds like u have the same problem i had. the t-belt was able to slip off with the cam gear with a little force and honestly i don't think it should be able to. now that i've re-tightened the belt properly...it doesn't come off if i put force on the belt and try to slip it off the cam gear.

Be very carefull when tighening that tensioner bolt. I tightened mine big time bc it was a pain to get a tq wrench down there. A couple months later my tensioner slipped, took the belt off and most of the threads had been stripped in the block, most likely from overtightening. so just be carefull.

When it first happened my cams ended up pointing up so I got lucky. Went out and bought a new tensioner, when I took the old one off the bolt had 3-4 threads gone and the block had small pieces in the hole. So I just went to ACE, got a 30mm longer bolt, and put it back on.....bad idea. Thats why I'm now in the middle of pulling the motor out to re-tap the hole. Good luck.
