Help with oil problem, I've tried everything.
In VTEC I burn through oil so bad you can't see out the rear view mirror. I have been trying to diagnose/fix this problem for a long time with no luck. First, I checked the compression and did a leak down test and they were both fine so this leads me to believe my rings are ok. Second, I replaced the PCV valve and installed an oil catch can, cleaned the head and replaced the valve seals. My guides were in spec so I didn't replace those. Now, my catch can fills up very fast and I'm still sucking oil through the intake manifold even with the catch can. I think this is caused by blow by but my compression is 275 across the board. What could be causing all of this oil to go through my PCV system?
Here is my setup:
97 GSR block
LS Crank w/ oil squirters removed
PR3 pistons
Stock head

make sure you are doing the compression test correct, if you need any help go to c-speedracing.com, good luck

I'd try some different addatives and see what that does. My engine did almost the exact same thing (burning oil in VTEC). I was actually going through a quart of oil a week, daily driven. My compression was fine and valve guides were fine. Finally I said f*%# it, and tore the engine down only to find that those small holes in the piston that allow the blow-by to pass into the bottem end were clogged. The rings looked fine.
If you running an engine that sat for a really long time, that could be the reason why their clogged. Or maybe the previous owner didn't change the oil regularly.

I didn't know there were holes for that but I have been burning oil so bad for so long I bet carbon could have clogged those little hole. Anyways, it doesn't seem like there is really any solid way to diagnose this problem so I'm just going to tear apart the bottom end and upgrade the rods, pistons, and get rid of my LS crank and put the oil squirters back in.
