i never did understand why they weld piping like that. a mandrel bend would be lighter and probably flow better

That thing is ******* amazing. I'm a huge fan of 240zs, if I could find one in decent condition out here I'd pick it up in a second.

Thats not the only reason. I've seen it done with stainless and steel pipes. They do it also cause you can get a tighter radius by making the pipes like that without sacrificing your flow or bend.
