itr tranny warranty questions
ok so i have a 94 gsr
i just bought a brand new itr tranny from an acura dealer
i had a shop install it right in front of me so i could keep my warranty( so if i did have problems acura couldnt say i messed up with installing it)
the shop did a 100% ok job installing it
i use honda MTF so i could still have my warranty
at about 1k miles i had a 2nd gear grind when down shifting without double clutching
then the 2nd gear grind stopped for about 2 days
then i was alittle late for class one day and i got on the car and shifted at higher rpms into 3rd gear ( i was at the top of 2nd)
3rd gear grinds . . . pretty bad and i had my clutch all the way down to the floor
my clutch has about 10k miles on it and isnt warn at all ( i took a look at it while the tranny was out)
i have a new master cylinder and new slave cylinder in the car
i have full fluids
and now im hearing that ACURA might not warranty my 2000 mile tranny that i just spend a **** load of money on and did everything i could possiblely do right
i need some help/ info please guys
thanks
JAY
p.s. 3rd gear grinds every time at anything higher then 4k rpms . . even with the clutch to the floor. . . if i double clutch it will not scratch . . but i just spend alot of money to have the BEST b-series tranny out and now i am having problems at only 2000 miles on the tranny
and i did break it in softly and smoothly

First, make note and take in all the receipts for the stuff you bought. The tranny itself, all the transmission oil (if you kept the receipts), the mileage you have put on it, etc. Any information that you can get. Bring that **** on down to the Acura dealer and let them know.
You say its under warranty. What type of warranty? What does it actually say on the warranty paper? Did you get anything documented?
If so, then yes they should be replacing your tranny. I just hope you have proof of documentation. This is a very common problem with ITR trannies, I've actually seen posts where a guy changed his 3rd gear syncro like 4-5 times already. Its crazy.....
Best of luck, I hope you have documentation
, if not its going to be an uphill battle. Just go over everything you did, respect them and talk to them like human beings, don't get all frustrated and maybe they will help you out. Don't jump the gun yet, things may work out....goodluck

What exactly did they say to you when you wanted to get it fixed under warranty? If its under warranty then I don't understand why they wouldn't fix it....

well they are saying i will have to pay to have it dropped out of the car and pay to have the tranny opened to be inspected . . . so basicly labor will have to be payed for but parts wont . .
i think they shoudl just take a ride with me and listen to the grind and then when they hear it just swap one out for me . . . im hearing i cant drop the tranny my self either . .

ugh... grindage sucks. Acura is right about their warrenty. they will charge you the labor to do this inspection and my guess would be they'll do a mild rebuild across the 1-2 syncro assembly and 3-4 syncro assembly plus a new set of bearings accross the board. my suggesstion would be, you're grinding because you are 1.shifting way to fast, so ease up on the short shifters. 2.you havn't tried rev matching to speed to make the syncro sleeve's job a little easier. or 3. your clutch isn't fully dis-engaging. i'd try the first two. then try bleeding the clutch.
