my car (93 ex coupe) is having many struggles. the radiator's done, the cooling fan doesn't kick on and there's a crazy noise that comes from the area where i think the cam gears are. (there's some sort of shroud or heat shield around it so i can't see what it is but that's where it should be.

anyways the radiator part i'm fixing but that sound is another story. it starts out like something is spinning of center then it gets to be a clacking noise. if anyone has any ideas let me know

 

t-belt/water pump check them both

 

how would i know if it's the water pump? i'd rather be able to rule that out first if i could fix it myself. i kknow the timing belt would be a mess to work on. but i don't know about the water pump. anyways the sound is off and on now and it's much quieter than it was before. once i got the coolant flowing in there and got it into vtec again the noise peaked and then stopped altogether. i have heard it a little bit since then but no where near as loud as before. thanks for the post too.

 

yeah, so i just checked with my mechanic and my head gasket is f'ed. does anyone know of a step by step guide for a red gasket replacement? i also plan on changing the t-belt and water pump while i'm in there. does the haynes manual have that sort of thing in it? (why do i think that's a stupid question) anyways i really need to know if this can be done in a saturday? cause that's pretty much all i have. PLEASE HELP ME!

i'm also thinnking about if i do indead need a new head what head could i find easily that would match, compliment, improve, or just plain make it friggin' work!
