Default 12.1:1 obd1 d16z6 leaning out at top end??

i have a 89 civic hatch with a z6 swap running obd1, mods:

engine/trans:

rebuilt d16z6 (sohc vtec) longblock
new d16a1 pistons (12.1:1 cr)
stock z6 rods shotpeened
arp connecting rod bolts
felpro gasket kit
d16y8 intake manafold
d16y8 fuel rail
d16y8 head gasket
adj fuel presure regulator
full obd1 conversion
p28 ecu
y8 throttle body
AEM cold air intake
airmass hedder
2.25 custom bent exhaust
revolution muffler
M&R short throw shifter
energy suspension shifter bushing kit
underdrive pully
centerforce dual friction clutch
si trans (soon to swap zc trans w/intermedit shaft)
AEM 3 bolt camgear
dsm fuel pump
B&M fpr

my b&m fpr is cranked in the whole way (as much fp as i can get)
my cam timeing is set at 4 degrees retard (mega top end)
and ignition timeing is set at stock

Once in a wile like, once a night ill hit the top of third and i can feel the car not pulling as hardas it usually does.
I look at my air fuel ratio guage and it slowley creeps into the red and i back out of it for fear to damageing my motor.
Also just about every time i hit 4th-5th it does the same thing i have no idea what could be causeing it.
sometimes it seems like its fine but its not pulling that hard at all top end like 90+ but i fidgure thats because i dont have any headwork yet.

maybe the fpr is going bad?

whats the max fuel pressure you can run?
when i take the vacume line of the fpr its spikeing at 50psi (same as at wot) is that too low for my setup?
im running 94 octain and dont know it i should mess with the ignition timeing or not till i get her on the dino.

any advice?

thanks, spun

Your revving to 9000rpms? on a basically stock d-series, or was that supposed to be mph. You should probably grab a vafc instead of pushing the fpr all the way upp, cause its probably running really rich everywhere else. And without a cam, the d16z6 wont make any power over 7200 rpms, well, it wont climb anymore, kidna pointless to keep revving.

Get a chipped ecu. Fuel is your friend and the stock program fuel is weak to say the least. Also 50 with the vacuum off is low. With a B&m and a walbro pump i was able to get 70 psi vacuum off on a old set up.

stock fuel press is 28-32 w/ vac. 38-42 w/o vac.

get the VAFC.

i think with that compression and mods you should look into bigger injetors if u want to stay away from a vafc.

they might no be able to pump the fuel u want at that high of compression to keep it steady or their.

back when i had my car advanced hardcore it wouldent go past 85 mph and was stuttering preety bad..power just wasant their, to much igntion, not enough fuel..

i just recomend either try advancing a little bit or bigger injectors.

You can't do internal engine work (cams, compression, etc) and expect to make power and/or have it work properly on the stock ECU program.

You need at the very least a VAFC, a FPR, and a good tune (dyno).

I assumed it was 9000rpms becaseu you didnt state, and using mph as a measurment for where it lags is pretty stupid, doesnt help us tell where the power drops off, what rpms? If its gonna lag at 90mph, its gonna be lagging at that same rpm in every other gear too....

wow your smart!
im saying it dosnt do it, only at tall gears. In first second and third gear it dosnt do it at all only when in 4th and 5th where more load is on the motor.

im trying to trade a set of dsm 390's i never used for a set of prelude h22 290cc's.
My main question is with a dsm pump and a fpr at wot i should be more than 50psi with the fpr set as rich as it gets right?
