weight loss
Things that I've done personally:
Removed sunroof assembly, welded in steel plug (25-30lbs saved).
Swapped front bumper for an HF front bumper (weighs 1/3 to 1/2 less).
Swapped rear hatch for an HF hatch (no wiper assembly).
Relocated battery to rear and switched to a lighter sealed battery (20lbs saved?)
Swapped 3 spoke Si steering wheel for 2 spoke HF wheel (gotta be 3 or 4oz at least
)
Future plans include:
Carbon fiber hood
Lightweight wheels (13" Panasports for autox, 15" Rotas for street)
Maybe switch to HF front anti-sway bar
Other options that I don't want to do:
Strip interior
Remove A/C
Lexan windows

remove every other nut and bolt on entire vehicle. ha ha ok not that extreme. But if you look through the car there are some bolts that really aren't needed.
YOU DID SAY, EVEN STUFF COUNT

has anyone mentioned polycarb windows yet ? that'll save you a good 50lbs. fiberglass hood/fenders ? good few lbs there..and if you really want to get jewish on cutting weight, replacing alot of the heavy nuts, bolts, skrews etc. with lighter ones will save you a bit.

you can remove just the **** that heats instead of A/C althogether ? cuz i sure as HELL dont need heating in california.
f*ck why didn't i just use edit ?!
............your wind shield wipers and the motor
i don't think it's legal here in california to remove the seat belt set, someone will correct me if im wrong...
a good example of cutting weight would be to take a look at most of the cars at the track, nothing but a seat and a steering wheel.

some more:
HF doors are lighter
removing all of your wiper fluid (or the entire assembly) saves. every gallon = 8 lbs
also gas weighs ~8 lbs/gallon
It's not uncommon for people to have their hatches down to 1600 or 1700 lbs now.. cra-zee

Remove heat shielding, intake manifold bracket, any wiring you're not using (stereo, etc), lexan what you can, get some light seats and wheels.
I should have my CRX just under 1500lbs when I'm done. Last time I corner weighted it, it was sitting at 1775 and I've taken a good 150lbs out of it since then, and know I can take another 100lbs with seats (40lbs), wheels (25lbs), and CF hatch with lexan (35lbs).

Rear is easy, just remove it, and use the 2 screws on each side and some creative zip ties elsewhere, but be sure to use good ones... or else they break after a while. On an Si, this saves like 30lbs and you can't visually see the difference.
Now I know there are a large number of you out there that don't condone removing bumper supports, so I'm just going to say, be carefull everyone, don't get too crazy with weight reduction on a street car. Consider a tradeoff maybe, like strip 75 lbs and then add a nice 6 point cage or better, not only could it save your butt in a side impact, but it really makes the car feel and handle very solid!
