Front brake swap w/ B-series motor
What's up everybody? Newbie from Phx here. Not new to Hondas, just to HT. I own a 90 CRX that was stolen and stripped. Now it's being rebuilt for drag use only. I recently purchased a 91 DX w/ a B16A1 in it. I'm putting in 4 wheel disc into it now. I'm in the middle of COMPLETELY rebuilding the trailing arms, including stripping and coating them and the calipers. SS brake lines, Brembo rotors. The works. I also am putting in the prop. valve, brake booster, and M/C out of a 91 Integra w/o ABS. I have heard of people taking the 10.6" rotor assembly off the front ofan EX and replacing the 9' that comes on DX HB's with it. I have 91 integra steering knuckles and what-not that were used in the swap.
I just need to know if anybody has heard what year EX, and if they'd still fit w/ the new knuckles. If nobody's tried it yet, I will and let you all know the outcome. I still need to know which EX to pull parts from. Thanks for your help.

The EX front brakes are ~10.3", not 10.6". Still a good upgrade though!
This is a rotor from a 1991 EX. Look at the size:

The knuckles you want for the EX are 90-91.
They look like this...stamped RH3-A and LH3-A:

They are perfect for an OEM upgrade. You can also use the fron DA knuckles but there's been great debate on how bad (if at all) it messes up your suspension geometry. They are surely not shaped the same at all, and the DA knuckle is a little taller. I guess it's your call!

Does anybody know how different if at all, the 90-93 K series knuckles(which are already installed) are from the 90-91 EX D-series knuckles?v That I really don't feel like swapping, but will if I have to. Also are there brembo or wilwood calipers available for the ex rotor assy?
Thanks guys. I'll post pics of the rear suspension when I get it finished.

What is K series?
Is that the 90-93 Integra knuckles, or what?
The EX knuckles vary from the DA (Integra) knuckles only in the geometry. The brakes/calipers are the same size, but the geometry is different between the two.

K-series refers to the 2nd Gen Integra from 90-93. It's called the K-body, don't ask me why. If you notice when swapping parts back and forth, All 4G civics designate a D somewhere in the part #, and Integra parts have a K in there somewhere. Generally at the end, sometimes in the middle.
About the geometry, what am I supposed to do w/ the Integra CV axles then? If the range of motion isn't the same for both knuckles, how am I supposed to use the ones I have installed?

the ex rotors and the teg rotors are the same size. there's a DIY on how to put on 11.1' rotors and calipers. have fun
your axles are fine, it's the knuckle i'd worry about.

If I swap to the EX rotors will the CV's still fit from the teg?

Yes. But you will have to do that stupid removal of the sealing rings.

What sealing rings? I've never really looked, so I'm not sure what rings you mean. Do you mean the bearing seal on the back of the hub? If so, that ain't cool.

Anybody got any pics of the Integra AND EX steering knuckles. A little side by side would help.
Same goes for the CV axles. Are EX & teg CV axles the same overall length and spline count? What other differences if any are there between the two? Thanks for all the help guys.

This site says he's tried it both ways with an EX and a DA setup.
He says it handles fine. Also the EX is 6lbs lighter.
I'd like to have the Ex stuff but I already have the DA.
He says most of the probs people report are from using the wrong combo of parts.

I already have a B16A1 in my car. Along w/ all the appropriate teg hardware to make it work. I bought it already done. I'm not sure if they are teg brakes or not .
Anybody know how to tell them apart(civic and teg)? Are the teg's much bigger than the DX's
When I get some cash together, I'll get everything from an EX including the CV's and work out all the geometry myself. Whatever's left over I'll just sell to somebody else.
