Default Throwing Codes. Anyone help?

Ok so on the way into work check engine light came on. The car was stilll driving fine but when I went in the office and came back out and restarted it the RPMs were jumping around.

I checked the ECU and this is what I saw.

2 flashes with a slight pause in them followed by 15 shorter flashes.

Then there was a pause of about a second and then there were 16 more short flashes.

I think that the 16 short ones are the fuel injectors but I am not 100% sure because I have never really read an ecu before and the last time I read about how to read an ecu I dont remember what the longer flashes mean. Anyone able to help me out?

I dont understand this question. It was the ECU throwing codes. I just dont really know how to read them.

He was asking because it sometimes helps diagnoses when you know the specs of the car. As far as codes, EDs operate real simple...if the check engine light is on, or has alerted you, juct check the ECU for the flashing light. a long flash equates 10 flashes, and the short flashes are 1.

EX. 2 long flashes and 2 short flashes would indicate code 22 Vtec pressure switch .. defective cicuit, or defective/unplugged switch

You can throw multiple codes as well, just watch until they start repeating.

if it was a cel 15 thats ignition output defective. that makes sense since you said the rpms were jumping around. Look to your distributor and its internals

OK......most of the codes can be read straight out by counting. When you count the red blinks, say you get code 16, then they are going to be consecutive, and aren't going to have long pauses between them, little faster than actual seconds. IF your running multiple codes, that 16 that you just read, and has blinked fast, will have a short Pause after it is done for about a second or two, then your next code will start, and you will count it the same.

Example
Code runs... 16counts.. Pause.... 22 counts... pause..... 4 counts pause. The cycle will LOOP again after it has finished telling you all of the codes, and 16,22 and 4 will run again.

If you are getting short, SLOW BLINKS, with pauses between them, you are running a code 1, which is your O2 oxygen sensor.

And just to let you know, sometimes if there is a new code for some reason, and you haven't started the car yet, it wont show. So you can either start the car and shut it off, or Try Disconnecting the Negative battery Cable to Reset the ECU, just to double check your not throwing new codes

OH.... post up if you have a question, but most likely if you SERCH "CODE XX" you will see what the code is indicating.
...........good luck

surprising how not too many people on h-t know about the codes or reading them for that matter. you got people talking about swapping engines, upgrading the cams or what not but don't know how to look up or read ecu codes. anyway, here's a post on how to fix your problem what code you're getting. provided that you figure out how to read them.

like they said, long 'beep' = 10, short 'beep'=1. this loops. haha i remember when i had a code 1 and didnt know it was just looping, i sat there looking at the ecu counting. stupid. anyway that's when i didnt know **** about cars.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work because Honda-Tech doesn't index "words" that are 2 characters or shorter in length. Searching for "code xx" will just return every post with the word "code" in it and ignore the "xx".
