help: thump when braking or accelerating harder than normal
this happens much more noticably in the wet, although i can provoke the noise in the dry if i do a full emergency stop.
basically, if i brake hard enough i hear this thump from the front end of the car, the next time i accelerate hard i'll hear the same thump again. it's quite strange...
could it be an engine mount?

If you are not sure then bring it to a mechanic.
Besides that I also had a thump like your describing and it turned out to be a front ball joint. cost 200$ to fix and the car was golden again!

Definitly sounds like it could be an engine mount. I'd check them out before I started pulling things apart.

nah, not possible, i had them re alligned last wednesday.
seriously though, ball joint is a good suggestion. i have no idea how to test that part out though, any write-ups?
is that the sort of thing that will go clunk in wet weather?

Back from dead. I get a slight thump when close to coming to a complete stop. And also when my wheel is turned completely to one side.
