What in the ____ happened to my car???
For the past while that i have had my car(92tegstock) it has had trouble starting after running for a while- i have replaced: air filter, fuel filter, cleared and refilled radiator fluid, hav a new battery put in. today in the middle of driving on the road - with no sign or light to be seen my car just shuts off and the rpm's drop so i pulled over and couldn't get it started. I was wondering if it was soemthing with the starter or ignition(no idea how they work) or the alternator(also no idea how it works) becuase they have never been worked on or changed. The other thought was that it may be something with the computer system or fuel injection system.
If anyone has had this problem before or knows what it sounds like please help and notify me before the auto shop tries to make me buy unnecessary expensive parts.

When you try to start the car, does it crank? Listen carefully before you start it, turn the key to the 2nd setting (so to speak) and see if you fuel pump cuts on...also, how could it be your starter that died, when your already driving? Hint the name starter...it helps start the car..
i would suspect the main relay for the random non start condition ... but on the current problem look at the timing belt and then check the ignitor /coil and check the diszzy housing they sometimes freeze....
does your fuel pump prime when ignition is set to On position?
if not, i would take a good look at your main relay.

yeah- sorry hence "me not knowing anything about the starter" . but yes i hear it turning over and trying to start so i guess the battery is fine and the spark must be getting there because it started once but quicky dropped and stalled out and could not get it started again but it sounded like it really wanted to start but just couldn't get the last bit enough to get running.

I got it back today and hey fixed the "ignition control module" and when i started it , it ran good with an unusually high idle-1500 usually about 5-7k w/ accesories on. and then it started good and the rpms fell again and stalled it. It did the same again at my house and i'm wondering ifthey really fixed the problem.. also they charged 341! so i hope it worked- please give me any input u have
Your initial problem happened to me a while ago, turns out it was a loose plug. Simple eh. Check all your connections under the hood. Hope its that simple for ya!
