For part of May and the Full Month of April BodyKits Northwest will be offering our Premium line of hoods. We do not advetise these on our website anymore, but we do offer them. Usually only to wholesale dealers due to the fact it was a lot easier to explain what the difference was between the 2 since most of our wholesale customers stock both our Standard and Premium lines. Another reason was due to the fact our wholesale dealers provides us with plenty of orders to keep us quite busy. Due to the recent demand from a few honda-tech customers we have chosen to release and make a limited amount for honda-tech only. Now you will probably ask what is the difference? Our Standard line is well known and is of great quality so how could we make it even better?
It's really hard to capture the differences with just a digital camera. There is alot more workmanship involved in making a premium hood. Our premium hoods are bagged and also made using a different mold with a more prominent edge built in. The Premium line also comes standard with a CLEARCOAT. So not only do you have a UV protected glossy gel coat, but a clearcoat as well. This not only adds more depth, but a deeper shine to the carbon fiber hood. The underside of the hood is also painted black to give it more of a OEM look. On our standard series the bottom skeleton is made with a black pigmented resin and uses a black gel coat. The Premium is made the same way, but we also paint the underside as well. Fitment ofcourse is just as good as our Stanard Line up. We have back up the fitment of our products. Like stated above, these will only be available in Limited Quantaties to the retail public. Listed below are the applications available. We will most likely make 10 of each application.
Applications: Price $350.00+shipping
1992-1995 Honda Civic 2dr/3dr
1996-1998 Honda Civic All Models
1999-2000 Honda Civic All Models
1994-2001 Acura Integra All Models
Here are pictures of our Premium hood that we sent to a Honda-Tech customer almost 2 weeks ago. He was able to take a lot better pictures with his digital camera than the one we have here. You can notice how much glossier it is as well as the more prominent rolled edge. The clearcoat alone makes this worth the extra $50.00, but you get a lot more than that.

i bought one of andy's premium hoods last month and i love it!
fitment was as close to oem as you can get and the clearcoat really gives the hood a super duper deep shine.
for andy & bknw!

"electron-eg" I like to call ours more of a smooth edge rather than a rolled edge. People just seem to know the term rolled edge better, that's why I use it. At most times a rolled edge hood is basically a fiberglass hood which is laminated over. Picture a box and then having it covered in wrapping paper. I can get into further detail, but this process does not utilize the strength of the carbon fiber cloth being used. Kinda like it's a show, but no go type thing lol. Most times you can tell it has been laminated this way when the carbon fiber goes all the way around the edge. So the carbon fiber will extend around the edge and be visable on part of the skeleton side as well. You will also notice that the hood is a lot heavier than your typical carbon fiber hood. Our hoods use a rolled edge look, but does not go around the edge onto the bottom side skeleton. BodyKits Northwest hoods are true carbon fiber hoods. We have worked with many different techniques and have been able to manufacturer a hood with a rolled edge look, but actually utilize the strength of the carbon fiber. Were not just taking a fiberglass hood and making it look bling bling in short. Hopefully that answered your question.

I can vouch for this hood. very light, for some reason, it fit better then my oem hood. weave is near flawless. the clear coat gives the carbon fiber a deep look.
for BKNW premium hoods.

Please take the time to read what I have posted above. I have explained what the difference is between the Standard and Premium hoods we manufacture. That is the best possible description I can give you. Not only do I explain the difference, but I have posted pictures to try to capture the differences as best as possible.
Only a small handfull of honda-tech members have this hood. It has only been recently a lot more honda-tech members have ordered our Premium line. Like I stated above we do not advertise them on our site. Most of them find out via word of mouth or they have personally asked me if we offered a hood with a clearcoat. Our standard line is what a majority of honda-tech members and many others have on there car. Our standard series has the features of what many are looking for. But if your lookin for something even better and want to step it up then the Premium line is for you.
Have a good weekend everyone!!!

Hey Andy. I didn't get a chance to call you last week, but this post answered a lot of questions I had about your standard vs. premium hood. One question that I didn't see answered. What is the weight for each type of hood?

Depends on the application mostly. Most Standard hoods weigh in at about 14-15lbs. The Standard hoods require less resin to make which makes them lighter. The Premium hoods are usually 16-17lbs at the most. Like I said it depends on the application. I have some hoods that weight at 12lbs.
Just installed my BodyKits NW cf hood and cf Mugen style front lip today (standard hood) I must say "WOW, Props to ANDY" Excellent customer service, tracking # provided after shipped, quick delivery (only 4 days from Cali to Iowa, pakaging was superb, mounting hardware included for both, hood and lip...cf weave is awesome (tight/superclean, crisp edges), fitment is wonderful, I just have to install the (stock hood's) rubber wheather stripping under the front edge of the hood to give it that last final detail. All-in-all,
There should be no reason not to purchase a cf hood from BKNW. Thanks so much Andy.

I told you, you would be happy with the Standard hood. Glad you like everything and thanks for posting up some pictures. When you get a chance e-mail me the originals to andy@bodykitsnw.com so I can post them up on the website sometime. I don't like using pictures with that we-todd logo on them.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
Yeah...I'll take some better pictures too. I installed the stock hood's rubber strip along the front edge and the hood bump stops today, looks great. Thanks again Andy.

I have the paint booth scheduled for June 14th. All the hoods should be done a couple days after that. I still gotta cut and buff everything.
