Is it safe to drive on a burnt intake valve car
Hi all,
This is the first time I writing to this forum and therefore please ignore my ignorance.
I have a 1993 Honda civic for the last 1 and half year and I have put 20000 miles on it.
Couple of days ago, my car started shaking up a lot and I took the car to the car repair shop. They got back to me with a $2000 job. The problems they mentioned is that Cylinder 2 does not have any compression and after compression test and leak test, they think its a burnt intake valve. They think that it needed a piston ring change too.
I cannot afford this much money and I am thinking to drive it as long as possible and then sell it to any dealer for whatever money I can get. The car except the engine is in great shape.
My question is: Is it safe to drive the car? Can it stop running in the middle of the road? How long I can drive it safely, if not for ever?
I will really appreciate this forums knowledgeable ppl's answers.
Thanks in advance.

a friend of mine drove his si for well over a year with a burnt exhaust valve. i dont know if it's safe per se, but it didnt get any worse.
U can get a freakin new engine for less than 2gs man. Just start saving and when it does stop running then get a new engine.
I believe if you swapped your car, you'd end up 100 times happier with your new motor and you'd save 1000 dollars, GET IT! Gas prices and increased consumption rate = $$$$
you could put a b series in there pretty easily, especially since its a 93, i believe you wont need mounts.. a b16 would be less then 2k and ALOT better
