Whats the max hp a 6thgen Auto tranny can handle?
Im thinking of going turbo in a few months on my automagic accord, but im wondering whats the max hp the stock auto tranny can safely handle?
I am not an expert on transmissions, but I am pretty sure it is the torque that is the problem, not the horsepower, since horsepower is just the rate at which torque is produced. And, as long as you keep the auto tranny cool, and don't just jump on the gas pedal, it should be fine, so long as you are not doing much more than 8-12 pounds of boost.
Well given the stock trannys seem to have trouble with what the normal engine puts out I wouldn't expect too much out of it without a cooler or some component upgrades...
yea I was planning to add a tranny cooler as well, but are there any other ways to beef up the tranny without requiring a new tq converter or other ultra expensive parts(level10 tranny)?

Wrong.
15psi is the highest that I know of, and the tranny was still functional after the motor blew. But even that was with Level Ten upgrades.

6lbs or 15 lbs isn't the issue, it's the hp and torque you put through it thats going to be the problem.
in short, there is no easy answer.

woah, long time no chat jweller, almost forgot that ur on this board too
so anyway, different turbos produce diff amounts of hp/tq at the same psi level, thats why im asking how much hp(forgot to mention tq) can the tranny handle, not how much psi
