Default Oil Check Light on u-turns

I just got my swap done in my 94' ex. a b18b was put in the civic by a honda mechanic. it runs great but the only thing i worry about is the "oil check" light turning on when i take a sharp turn (ex: u-turn). I checked the oil stick and the oil mark goes up to the 2nd hole in the stick. The light hasn't turned on when just driving straight, it's only when i do a very sharp turn. I took out my p/s, could that be a reason? I need to call the guy to see what's up with the light turning on. What else would make my oil check light turn on....

on another note--> I just took off my rear hub cap wheels, and to my amazment, i had rear disc brakes! since when did 94' ex have rear disc brakes stock!!?!? and it sucks because i just bought gsr- disc brake conversion. Do 94' Ex coupes have STOCK rear disc brakes????? that'd be fucked up if they did...

I had the same problem on an old vee dub of mine. The light has to do with the oil pressure, not volume of oil in the pan. It's probably a worn out oil pump. When mine was worn it also used to throw a light when I would start it up right after changing the oil as well as sharp turns.

To my knowledge no EX's have ever come with rear disks.

my 93 ex 4dr had abs and also 4wheel disc brakes. to my amazement, the 96+ ex's dont come with 4wheel disc brakes anymore. i think they just cut some cost to keep the civics "affordable" and competitive with other sport compact cars on the market. as far as the oil light coming on only on sharp turns, that sounds like low oil. since u said u checked it and it was at the 2nd mark...it stumps me a little. oil light flashing could also mean your oil pump is taking or on its way to taking a ****.

My guess would be that when you turn (since I doubt you have a baffled pan) is that all of the oil goes to one side and it starves the pump.

from the best of my knowledge 95 ex's and si's had rear disc brakes maybe all 92-95 did I'm not sure. But in 96 they skimped out because ex's do not have rear disc brakes, I have an hx and it does not have them either. I read an article that honda claims that 96+ civics has more than enough stopping power and that was why they put drums on the back. And the 99-00 si has them, they have the same from brakes, rotors, calipers, etc. as an ex just that they also have discs in the rear.

hey guys it's me again, i think i have some kind of oil leak. Something is not right. i looked at the bottom of my car today and i have a little oil puddle right below the bend of the headers.... I checked the oil and it's low. Too low. I filled it back up before i went to sleep and i checked in the morning and no more oil came out. what i am thinking is that it could be a bad Oil pan gasket? Cus when my car starts driving hard, the pressure gets to be higher and the gasket fails? also someone suggested thta i might not have a "oil slpash" gaurd in the oil pan... that sounds like it could be true, but why would i not have one? how do i get one? i know on my d16 oil pan there is a metal plate half way up the oil pan, which looks like it could be a "splash" guard for that one. Why would my oil pan not have one?

About the brakes... I have a ex with ABS so i'm pretty sure those read disc are stock. It's funny tho cus i just bought a gsr rear- disc conversion.. >_< guess i should have checked :D gsr disc's bigger then civic disc? cus i just switch the rotors?

I've got a non-abs 95 ex coupe. Rear drums for me...

And this sounds likely to me.

talked to a mechanic... he said it might be the Rear main Seal!!!! nooooooo. so it's either a really big probelm, (rear main seal) or a really small probelm ( oil pan gasket). 30 $ vs. 200$ >_<. The oil is leaking to the left of the headers, right near where the oil pan and the plate that covers the flywheel. PLEASE NOT BE THE MAIN SEAL!!!

ABS equiped EX's and SI's had rear disk's... I'm not sure on non-abs si's but I KNOW that non-abs EX's DO NOT have rear disk brakes...

Other than that all 92-95's came with drums in the rear...
