TIRES for 2K3 S2K
The original Bridgestones on the back of my '03 S2K have turned up smooth after 15K miles. I am surprised this happened so quick. The performance of these tires was very good for many months. Can anyone suggest a replacement tire for the rear that would have at least stock performance but better milage?
I don't think there is one that will perform as well as the S02, and last longer.
If you get rears with a different tread pattern make sure you change the fronts also or the car won't handle right. I tried mixing So3 rear with S02 front, and it handled like crap.
Also, if you get anything other than a stock s02 for the rear, you will need a 245.

What my brother did is bought a separate set of wheels to put hoosiers/victoracers on for racing, and then just bought crap for the road. I think he's running fk451's in the front and ecsta 712's in the rear these days
on my GSR i used potenza 730 and 750's.
they are W rated, summer, and last over 20K. good grip, too.
the S I bought has 910's which I'm not happy about. i'll get 750's when the time comes.

Here is a good find that I found in another thread;

$118 for fronts
$128 for rears
For the S02's.

they still wear fast. Driving habits will dictate how quickly the rear tires wear in this car. If you drive your car spirited on the public roads, get the so2's and you'll be happy, the grip is worth it. Otherwise, get the cheapest hardest tires available, federals or whatever as they'll last forever but you can't expect grip out of them for spirited driving.

your suggestions are more than welcome, no worries. The problem arises when fitting the car that came with pretty damn good tires with less than ideal tires due to cost. If the car is going to be driven tamely behind the hands of a new driver, then the lower cost tires will be fine. But if the same driver chooses the cheaper tires, they will be surprised by the lack of grip if they go on "spirited" drives.

I called a local shop to check on availablity of Azenis for S2K. Initially they said no prob, but when I got there... no azenis. so, evidently you were right in the first place. No Azenis for S2k.
The kumho ecsta MX tires are supposedly pretty good for dry weather traction and also has the correct sizing for the S2k. Based off personal reviews, it seems that these are an excellent alternative to the S02's if budget is a concern. They still don't beat out the S02's. But for about half the price, who can complain?
I'm considering replacing all four of my tires with the MX's but i really want to get S02's. I bought my car used and have still not yet experienced my car with 4 S02's on

I think you should wait a little longer and save up for the S02s.

The Ecsta MX's are just that... "pretty good for dry weather traction". However, they are not "fantastic", "great", nor even "sufficient" for this car IMO. Go with some S03's or S02's. DO NOT take the advice of going to 215's in the front. That isn't a proper tire size. It's 205's in the front, or 225's with a front bar in the front - and 245/45's in the rear for anything other than OEM S02's.
