i cant feel my hands
hey guys im having a bit of trouble here and relly need some help. I been trying to put my timing belt back on my gsr, and with every thing set at TDC when i go to rotate the crank the TDC mark on the crank pully pass up the pointer on the cover way before the cams start to move. I even been trying to set it up where I set the TDC mark a little before the pointer on the cover and still no luck and now all i have is a pair of numb hands from putting on and taking off the timing belt so many freking times and i just cant get it to set right. I also been following the helms step by step and still no luck please help.
Well the crank does rotate at twice the speed of the cams, so it should move a bit before the cams do.
How much tension is on the belt when you have it on? If its incredibly lose you might want to try and manually put some tension on it (screwdriver/coathanger on the tensioner trick) to get it to a point where they rotate at the right pace.

Is the tensioner bolt tight?
Is it easy to slip the belt onto the cam gears, or is it pretty hard?
The coat hanger trick is you use a coat hanger or screw driver to push the tensioner out and the spring to tension it.

the bolt is lose and its pretty hard to slip the belt over the gears. hence i cant feel my hands hehe.
But sometimes it goes on easy. This is buging the hell out of me.

I think you are fine. The crank rotates 2 degrees before the cams will rotate 1.
Tension it correctly, then rotate the crank a few times and double check and make sure that all the marks line up correctly. If they do, you are fine.
