Default Sony Xplod CDX-M9905X review

Sony needs to get rid of all their garbage models and start making decks like this! This deck is so beautiful. The quality, fit and finish is top notch. Everything feels really solid and it's built like a tank. There's nothing cheap about this deck. After owning several Pioneer Premier, Kenwood Excelon and Clarion Pro headunits, I thought I was going to regret buying a Sony Xplod after all the negative things I've heard about them. But I have no regrets with my decision. My CD's sound even better than before with DSO and BBE MP. Not bad Sony...

What sony should really start making again is the CDX-C90 or something that is an equilavent. No more of the implod.... i mean xplod garbage. Get back to the really decks.

The CDX-C90 isn't a sony xplod deck. It was the mobile es series that they had before the xplod ****. It is a true audiophile deck that is second only to the denon deck.

Well, I'm not building my car for SQ or anything. What more do I need from an HU? I just want a nice looking deck with basic controls. As long as I can control the treble and bass, I'm a happy camper. I don't see or hear any difference between this deck and the Pioneer's or Clarion's I've owned before.

You have to see the LCD screen on this deck. It's awesome.

I don't have a changer, so I can't comment on that. But one thing I can tell you is that it plays my badly scratched CD's back from the highschool days (4 years ago) just fine. The only thing that bothers me about this deck so far is that I've noticed the volume on the CD and radio is a little off.

That picture actually makes the deck look cheap. It looks MUCH nicer and classier in person.

Well, it may just be my mp3 cd's, but the volume is different from the radio and CD. When I switch from CD to radio, I have to increase the volume quite a bit and I do the opposite when switching from radio to CD.

As for the review, it's a really solid deck. Don't expect it to have as many features and options as a high-end Alpine or Pioneer, but it gets the job done while looking incredibly sexy. I have no other complaint so far other than the volume being a little different. But like I mentioned, it may just be my mp3 CD. I'm too lazy to get a regular CD to test it out. It also comes with a ton of videos and images from factory to set as your background. Some of them are pretty sick. Everytime someone rides in my car, they're just staring at my deck.

I have all aftermarket speakers and amps, so the sound will vary depending on your setup. I really like the DSO option though because I've always thought the speakers in my R were kinda low. It raises the image and creates a more ambient sound.

all sony deck does that and many other brand deck does too. It's switching from Digital sound to radio which is crap sound.

Yeah, but the difference is too significant IMO. Sometimes I have the radio blasting, then when I switch to CD, I forget that the volume is much higher on the CD, so one time it literally blew the windows out because it was so loud.
