I hear what I'm 99% sure is a noise coming from the rear driver's side brake. It's not super high pitch.. almost sounds a little bit like escaping air (hard to explain, still def. under a "squeaking" type of category). Anyways it comes during mild breaking, goes away when I step harder on the pedal, and also comes on when I hit a bump or am going over a particularly rough road.

Any comments/suggestions for what I need to replace would be great.. it's driving me insane!

 

Means your brakes are about to go out

 

Maybe your squealer is broken and your pads are gone, or you lost a pad. Maybe you have a small rock or something caught in there. Spray some brakleen in there and see if it helps. Check your rotors, pads and anything brake related. Could be a number of things.

 

mines recently happened, i replaced brakepads..got it from autozone with lifetime warranty and it was only 16.99 it works fine..

 

i believe they call the shimmers (sp??) the thin metal layer may be starthing to scrape on your rotors. change the pads and see what happens.

 

I have the same problem, and i just replaced all of my rotors and pads. I can't figure out what it is.

 

lol...mine was doing the same EXACT thing @ my back left brake. It was sooooo annoying--it was squeking real bad . So I replaced the pad, it was worn down so thats what was making the noise, metal to metal.
