yesterday after cleaning the engine bay my "battery" light came on and its not goin off...my stupidity caused it no doubt but anyways...its been like that since yesterday afternoon but the battery seems to be charged fine, car starts up no problem, idles smooth with high beams, wipers, blower motor, defroster, stereo and hazard lights going.

car starts up instantly like 1 crank and she's on and goin...so this seems pretty weird to me cuz all the other times an alternator has died on me its been pretty obvious as there were symptoms before it died.

I'm tryin to find a cheap used one right now so I can try it out and see if there is any difference (light goes out etc.) or not...when I unplugged the regulator plug the light went out...does that need to be plugged in? cuz I know there are 1 wire alternators out there that dont use a regulator

any input or help would be greatly appreciated

all wires need to be plugged in...dont get your alternator wet dood

 

I guess I'll just have to wait and see if this thing is gonna die or what...been 3 days and havent had any symptoms of such other than the light bein on

 

Autozone owns. I got one about a month ago. Same as you, light was on for about a week. rev over 3k and it would go out sometimes. I was 50 miles from home at Night! Car died. I waited a while, then it started for me very lucky!! limped home... Got an autozone alternator next day for about 80.00 bucks. lifetime warranty. good luck...
