Turbo/Supercharger
Which would be better for a Prelude, supercharger or a turbocharger? I favor the turbo since I am more of a Supra guy, however, what setup would you use on a Prelude and how much $$ would you be looking at? With the right setup, what kind of hp would you be looking at? Thanks
You can use either, both will cost you over $3000 unless you do a custom turbo set up and shop around. If you have a 4G there isn't supercharger out yet for them yet. If you are into racing alot get a turbo, if you just want a faster car get the supercharger.
I was refering to the 4th gen Prelude. You say that the supercharger would be faster than the turbo? Do many people have any type of setup such as turbo/supercharger on this forum? What kind of hp and what quarter mile times would you be looking at? Thanks
No I meant that if you just wanted a bit faster street car with minimal maintenance then you would want a supercharger, but they don't make one for the 4G yet anyway. Now if you want a car with alot of power potential get a turbo. You can increase the boost on a turbo much more than you can on a supercharger, therefore you get more power.
Also a supercharger has a linear powerband, where a turbo has to spool up before it gets to full boost. So if you get a turbo you will be able to get traction off of the launch before you reach full boost(this way you don't waste time spinning your tires.)
