HF is 4 speed, not 5.

and yes the gears are longer to compensate.

Im just restoring a Si to daily drive to save on gas , I drive a 02 Turbo cummins diesel that makes about 500hp and a Shelby GLHS turbo that makes around 250hp. So im not really worried about performance. I like the looks of the CRX and i drive around 80k miles a year or more so i needed something that would be fun to drive ,cheap, and reliable. The Shelby is a collectable numbered car so i dont drive it much.
I will post some pics of my progress after my 20days is up. I have rebuilt the drivetrain and it has a D16 ,springs , exhaust, cold air ,Im working on the body so i can paint.
Thanks.

'89 CRX HF 90 miles an hour is 3000rpm tested it yesterday.

I like the gears in the car if only it had about 3 times the power it has (62hp).

BTW '87 GLHS is very cool. I have an '88 CSX-T 2.5 20psi S60.

I have a 91 hf and I have always wondered how the hf tranny would work with a turbo'd b18c dart block pushing 300+ hp at the wheels.. Maybe 300mph in 5th?

This is a partially honest question since I am considering a build. But I assume the hf tranny is not strong enough to take the punishment.

There's your problem. The D & B-series stuff is not interchangeable. Basically nothing is interchangeable between the different series as far as major parts go (D, B, H, F, K, A-series). Only things that swap over are throttle bodies and stuff like that.

in other words, it's not possible. but i believe that the LS tranny has the longest gears in B series.
