Type R cams, you'll need LMA's in yer' 10+ year engine....
Just installed the type r cams. Lost motion assemblies were ALL shot
, all very loose and some were sticking down. It's really not worth installing cams without replacing the LMA's. Use new B16 ones ($) or type r ones ($$$$). You'll have to remove the rockers though. Don't even ask how we did it in my car (they hit the frame in a B16 EF with Hasport mounts.) Not for the faint of heart. IM me if you really need to know

I've heard it a few times but what parts are the LMA's? Just for my knowledge. Remove rockers? dang, i'm a motor moddin noob
It's not a must. I had CTR cams in my old B16a and they worked perfectly fine. Just depends how old, or should I say, how beat on your motor is/was. Not everyone needs to do it.

he is saying when you remove the shafts for the rocker arms they will hit the body so you can't remove them all the way. which makes it hard to get all the LMA's out
A cheaper route would be to go Prelude LMA's w/ a spacer about $70 all together...

Sorry for the confusion. The rocker shafts have to be removed to get the LMA's out. The shafts run parallel and below the camshafts and slide out of the head towards the driver's side mount. They just clear the mounts, but will not clear the body of the car. Read up on the function of the LMA's
. Mine were very beat up, not sure how others are. BUT I beat up the motor VERY well with track days/autox/hitting vtec in every gear. I've read that bad LMA's can lead to broken cams (not from experience though

(BTW, I got the type R LMA's at dealer cost, I would NEVER buy them new at retail!)

LMA = Lost Motion Assembly
A new LMA from the dealer costs about $32 for ITR and $28 for Lude Civic SI. For DOHC VTEC's you'll need a total of 8 of them not 16 as I said before.
For SYSTEM COMPONENT scroll down and chose "VALVE-ROCKER ARM"

I got the info from a post on Omniman

That's strange, I also did a search on another online parts store and it does have the LMAs listed at $7 ea, as opposed to $28. The $28 price tag from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com looks like it is the price for a set of 4 LMA's since their price of $28 divided by 4 = $7. Another weird thing is that one of the old threads that came up from a search said that the $28 price was also quoted by somebody that worked at a Honda dealership!

Can someone post some pics of these LMA's? Id like to see what exactly we are talking about here. I thought I knew what they were, but maybe im confused...
Lost motion assemblies... it's the hydraulic lifter thing in the middle for each cylinder's VTEC rocker in a DOHC VTEC valvetrain...
