Default low idle and engine seems to be skipping

Tonight i headed to my gf's house and while pullin her hill and shifting i felt like i was hittin rev limiter around 3500-4000 rpm. after i got up the hill i tried revving higher and i did so without a problem. a few minutes later when i got to her house i stopped my car and left it running. It now feels as though its skipping with an idle around 700( i think this is low). It sounds like the engine is skipping or somethin....what could the problem be?any help is VERY much appreciatted
TIA

EDIT: after talkin to a friend, my idle is probably fine, but my car still sounds like its skipping

plugs were done at same time as timing belt....wires...its been a while
do u think it could be these that cause the car to sound like its skipping or the distributor like nikkon said

it sounds like a drag car the way it idles
my plugs are pretty new, but ill check them and goin to get new wires later....
edit:checked plugs and the bottoms are like black....so ill be pickin up some of those too
think i should do cap and rotor as well?

hers my .2 - anything dizzy related is going to be $$ - so you should check out everything else first - i assume your check engine light isnt on now but it might be a good idea to check it for stored codes to see if the ecu noticed anything funny - second if your wires are cheap and/or over 30k old you could go to your local parts store, get some new wires, run it around and see if that fixes the prob - if not take the wires and the reciept back and say you didnt need them and get yor money back, then move on to other causes
