B16A1 tranny hookup
Last October I blew the headgasket in my 89 CRX Si with a B16A1 swap. The pistons are all torn up and I'm sure more than just that. Summer time has come and I've decided instead of trying to rebuild the engine to just buy a new B16A since that would be cheaper. As far as I know, the whole tranny is completely intact, so my plan is to buy just the actual engine since it will save me a good $500.
However, I heard it is fairly difficult to remove and reattach a transmission since you have to basically take out the whole clutch system to do it.
I'm fairly confident I can do an engine swap, but is hooking up a transmission that much harder? Does it require any special tools outside of what you would need for an engine swap? If anyone has any useful information or perhaps a how-to on hooking up a non-hydro B series transmission to a B16A I'd really appreciate it! Thanks a ton!

nah.. its not that hard. easier with the engine on a engine stand that's for sure!
pressure plate, clutch disc, flywheel, thats it
just get a good shortblock. then slap your head on it (with a NEW head gasket
)and you're back in business.

http://www.helms.com get that manual for a car that has a b16 in it...del sol civic si bla bla bla. you can do it by yourself with normal tools... and maybe a couple sockets you have to buy at auto clone
ok when you say its easier to put the transmission on the engine when its on an engine stand, i hope your not talking about the engine stands that support the engine through the tranny mounting points. and some other kind of engine stand.
if you plan on switching the clutch then you will need a clutch alignment tool, you will also need 12 point sockets for the pressure plate. check pilot and throwout bearings. it might be hard to align the pilot shaft, but just work at it and eventually youll get it. the first time me and my bro tried took us like half hour but eventually we got it

hey great thanks for the info on the tools
okay, on the helmsinc.com website, it lists a 1994 del sol repair manual but it appears to be a general repair manual for all models, does a standard 94 del sol have a b16a or just the si?
i picked 1994 because the website said their 1993 manuals were out of stock.
thanks!
