Default Project EG - Step 1: Bodywork/ Paint Prep *Nearing Completion*

Ok, so i started the bodywork on my hatch. Today i put on some filler, sanded, removed the things i wanted to shave, took out some interior, etc.

Im really trying to do as much bodywork and paint prep myself as i can, so it saves on time and money at the paint shop.

Ok heres the pics, and a little more info:

BEFORE

AFTER

DAY I GOT IT

NOW- Still need to do some more sanding, and filler, and yes the wheelwells are welded behind the filler...

INTERIOR - yes it is dirty, thank you

And here's what my car thinks about all this 'downtime'

Any comments and suggestions are very welcome, as this is my first attempt at bodywork. Thanks in advance, and i hope to keep updated pictures on the board.

You bet, there will Pics O' Plenty when it is done. Car should be in primer by the end of the week, i hope. I am moving back home to Alabama on the 28th of this month, and getting married on the 5th of June, and hopefully i can get it in the shop before we leave for the honeymoon!! Sweet gift for when i get back.

Color is going to be... you guessed it, Electron Blue Pearl.

I noticed that too. I think its because most people dont trust the work unless they do it themselves... at least thats how i think. If its something i dont know how to do, I will most times learn before it gets done, that way i can do it myself. Plus there is always the satisfaction of saying "I did all the work myself." Hell, if i had a paint booth, i would spray it myself too!!

Well, i started out wanting to do Grand Prix White, but all i ever see is white hatches. Im trying to do something that is an OEM Honda color, but also, do something that i dont see alot of.

Where i live there are, 2 black, more white ones than countable, couple red ones, silverstone metallic (1), teal, and NO BLUE ONES...

What do you suggest since EBP is so 'played out' ?? All i ever see it on is the 99-00 Si.

Oh and does anybody have any tips on the best way to prep the interior?? Mine is really dirty, and i want to get it ready to paint as well. Would Simple Green do the job? Im going to put carpet back in, as well as the panels... but i would like to have it all match. Anyways, if anybody has any suggestions, feel free to share them. Thanks

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to suggest that color. I was actually looking at a Porsche blue, but then i saw a mint CBP hatch on here and i was sold.

Captiva Blue

***Update***

Here's some of today's action. Got those holes welded up (antenna, hatch emblem, hatch keyhole), got everything sanded, and half of the car primered. Tommorrow everything should be primered and ready for paint.

First of all... these 3 items are your friend:

I had a rust hole the size of a baseball right under the passenger side taillight, and that Evercoat fiberglass filler worked perfect, looks like there wasnt a hole there at all. The high-build primer works good if you have done any welding on your car, it kinda blends the edges of the original metal to the new metal, thus creating a seamless look, perfect. And the lightweight filler is very easy to use. Would highly recommend any and all of these products if you plan on doing bodywork.

Car Pics:

Dents be gone...

Shaved antenna...

Shaved rear holes...

Thanks for the space, let me know what you all think... /

I highly recommend it if youve got the time. It is easier than i thought it would be, and i am already getting the feeling of accomplishment even though it hasnt been painted yet.

Now i just have to make a final decision on a color. I did a search and there are too many CBP hatches. So i gotta find something else...
