Default Please share UR experience with IPSracing?

Just wondering what is people's experience with IPS, cause I haven't had such a great experience.

Ordered a T1R exhaust/ 2 hamp filters and 1 red stitch boot from them nearly two months ago. I spoke to Mike who spoke to me professionally and answered all my questions, when he took my money he said it should be there two weeks tops. I was really happy and looking forward to getting my stuff.

After two weeks I never got nothing, so I e-mailed to see what was up, he said my exhaust came in damaged and had to reorder from his supplier. I thought, OK, cool, at least he didn't send me a damaged exhaust, even if I had to wait longer it was cool.

Another few weeks (over 1 month by now) e-mailed a few times, didn't get any responses, called, but always get the answering machine(I hate leaving messages on the machine) Finally, one day got thru to Mike, spoke to him, said he had to track down the exhaust, told me it was at customs and he would pick it up on Monday(which was last week monday now) also said if he couldn't get it for some reason, he would try to see if any of his friends that runs shops if they have one and have it sent to me, cause he doesn't like to make his customers wait. I thought ok, cool, maybe I'll finally get it this time.

Another week, E-mailed him yesterday, but got no responses, tried calling a few times, no one answered, This time I left a message. (Hopefully they will return my call on the whereabouts of my exhaust.)

BTW, if the IPS guys are reading this, I in no way meant to offend, so don't get offended, I am just a very patient customer who has waited long and hard for his parts which I haven't yet received (which I already paid for may I add) I hope this got your attention, cause I don't know what else to do. I don't want to want to make enemies with you guys, cause you guys seem like very reputable guys and run a great store. I just hope you guys can come thru with my goods in a timely professional manner.

Just wondering if someone could shed some light on this situation or please share your experiences with IPS, I'm sure lots of people had great experiences with them, just don't know why mine turned out so bad.

Mike of IPS moderates these boards last I checked or was an admin. I have personally never ordered anything from him but he is very good with follow up.

But I know what you mean I paid for seats in early february with on-trackperformance.com and I didnt get the seats until late march.

But I would rather let them take their tme then not get it at all, one of the drawbacks of shopping on the net

I've been waiting almost 3 months for a 26mm Mugen Rear sway bar from King Motorsports.
Seems they've been backordered for several months now.

Sometimes things just don't work out as you'd like them to.
I can't imagine that Mike has done anything other than get you yor stuff, and I'm sure he's doing whatever he can to make you a happy customer.

As a person who's trying his hand at running a parts shop I can tell you two things:

1.) There's always someone up the food chain who slows down stuff beyond comprehension and makes you look bad

2.) It's extremely difficult to constantly be updating customers with their order status (especially in light of the ease of communcations customers enjoy... "internet time" which is like every 12 hours or less).

--IPS is a company that is well established and committed to helping customers get their orders fulfilled. Understand that they are the messenger, not the creator, and thus are subject to waiting for the creator/courier to come through on time (which never happens ).

It's good that you brought this up, it's important to note that part orders (especially for stuff not on hand) can take a little longer than one usually would expect. But this translates to cheaper prices (not having to spend mad cash on having an inventory that sits for months).

Welcome to the world of waiting for JDM parts. What more can be said? Mike is a good guy, though.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience....

But most of the time it's really out of the shop's control on when the stuff is gonna arrive. AFAIK, T1R exhaust is not a mass production unit in Japan so waiting time is very unpredictable.

I ordered a set of Toda valvespring and Toda cam gear which took 2 months to have the parts come in and I Don't Blame Mike at IPS but i do blame the orignal guy who took my order who told me they have them in stock. I had the exact same dilemma as you were. He was kind enough to send out the valvespring (which were in stock) first but the cam gears would take over a month because of back order (which i orignally expected).

Would I buy from IPS again?

Yes, as long as i talk to Mike

Mike is a good guy. I would trust him with any order that I place with him.

Just like any other shops, it's always best to order when parts are in stock. Otherwise, it's anyone's guess as to when JDM parts are gonna clear the customs.

thanks for the great input guys.

I'm sure Mike is a great guy, he was very professional with me on the phone. I understand that there will sometimes be complications on delivering the goods, and I don't blame him for that, just wish they could give me a straight answer when I should get my parts (even though I know it's not always possible)

Oh well, hope I get a response from him in a few days, and hopefully i'll see my stuff before summer is over.

Mike = stand up guy

If you have jdm parts on your car, you more than likely have experienced the 2-5 month wait for at least some of them.....

Mike is a great guy and his service is always tops.

The problem with the parts that he sells is that they are not commodity items like Nopi stocks, and they can be hard to get and/or delayed/damaged in shipment. IPS is also a small business (not like Nopi) so its hard to keep track of every order all the time or get a hold of Mike at any hour of the day.

RJ - who orders HAMP and JDM shizzle from Mike

shopping for car parts requires combination of luck, patience, more patience.. and then again.. luck..

in your case, you are dealing with reputable shop. if anything, you will get your money back.

dealt with mike on a few occasions. he's a good guy that is busy as hell. i understand that nobody ever picks up at ips! just PM him (mike m) or email him. i don't think he checks the email on his website, but another one at aol. i know this because i emailed a couple times to the email that is shown on the website and never got a reply. however, every time i emailed him to his aol email, i always got a response.
