Default dc2, dc5 Dilemma

i am having the biggest problem which car i want. i narrowed it down to the dc2-r and dc5-s. My main concerns with the car i want is overall good car. With that the pick would be the type-r but there all used and i dont like the idea of getting a used car. I also like the type-r is because there a lot more rare in my area and I like having a car that everyone doesn't have, although i dont want to regret my choice over what people think of my car since im the one that has to own it. Although im not afraid of getting it stolen since i will keep it garage kepted. The dc5 has aways been a favorite of mine. The turn off to me is that i heard many people have problems with theres and the interior is not that great since Milano Red and White comes with Tan, although I like the ABP and Black too..Hard Choice for me...I NEED HELP!!!

*Mods will only be Mugen parts because i get it all discounted since my dad insures them

Hook it up with some mugen stuff
You can go to canada and get white with black interior and gunmetal wheels also.
Go with the dc5. There a great starting point for a car. Strong motor and has a warranty.

how many ppl with DC2R's have u talked to? I haven't looked but I'd bet they have their own gripes and complaints about the car too.

DC5S's problems: gear grind, shitty tires, easy to scuff leather/pleather, what other problems do ppl complain about?

Pretty standard answer that seems to work 95% of the time:

If you need to ask, then a Type R is not for you.

Since exterior/interior colors and such are a big deal, I think this would work in your case. And then it seems you'd just be buying the R for the name.

Two completely different cars. Perhaps you should research the DC2R a little bit before you make a decision you'd regret.

Well i know a guy a who had a dc2-r and now has a dc5-s. he says the dc2 was funner to drive but his dc5 was a bit quicker. IMO i'd get the dc5. You still get a car thats plenty fun to drive, 200hp and 6spd, plus you get a warranty, and something new with no potential surprises. If you plan on modding the hek out of it then warranty doesnt matter, cause you'll end up voiding it. I have a base dc5 and my only regret is that its not an s. Getting the s right off the bat should make you happy.

i am planning to auto-x once in awhile and the type-r falls in the catagory better but thats not real high in my choose of a car. Its going to be a daily driven car although i dont care too much about a smooth ride. i have a truck right now that doesn't annoy me that i could feel ever bump. Is the LSD a need in a auto-x car and daily driven car?

Its a toss up...pretty hard choice.. me i would go for the DC2R .. Reasons motor, suspension, body lines, only so many where made. DC5S is nice 6spd, motor with alot potential. As for looks never really likes the way it looked, dunno maybe its just me but i would love the motor out of the DC5S in my lil ES2

the DC5 will do just as well on an autox course as a DC2R. it is smoother driving, a 8 year newer platform, better construction, safer, lsd is more for racing. k-series is a better motor for tuning. plus, theft is a huge problem with a DC2R.

No, it will not.

Otherwise, the DC5 makes a better daily driver/part time autox car. If I could only have one car, I'd pick the DC5.

double wishbone owns macpherson strut.. but if you're planning to just daily drive with occasional autox then dc5 is the car for you.

i would choose the dc2r if i had the choice though, it's a pure race car out of the box.

Then you might as well wipe your *** w/ your warranty.

DC2 are not used so warranty will not be a problem with this issue.
Then again warranty is only important if you plan on keeping your car stock in which many people do not. Minor mods will void it out fast. I have read that DC2R owners are not jumping on the wagon and going with a k20 motor in thier car.

It's a very very difficult swap for not much more stock HP. There are great possibilities w/ the K20 but the cost of importing a DC5R engine and installing it into a newly purchased DC2R, you can have an evo, sti, supra, etc.

DC5-R my friend. You can get a brand spankin new street legal DC5-R for $28,900. That price includes shipping, making the car street legal, and the fees for the importer. If I knew about that, I would've bought the DC5-R... but then again, I bought the RSX-S when it first came out. Oh the days of attracting a crowd with the RSX... seems so long ago..
