Default 1987/1988 Compatibility issue

I have a chance to buy a 1988 Honda CRX 1.6L with 100k on it, but it needs a new clutch, axles, and Rim/Tire. I have a 1987 CRX 1.5L I have been intrested in for a while I can get for 200 or 300 hundred bucks.

I would like to buy the 88 and put the axles and rim from the 87 on it. Is this possable?

why not just buy new axles from checker or pep boys or something? they'd be cheaper than buying the whole 87 crx.

And aftermart rims on the 88 will only fit the 88?
Either way the rims are both 4x100.

Size wise might make a diffrence, i wasen't implying that aftermarket wouln't fix was just figuring they had stock rims

I kow what your saying but the body's are so close that you wouln't have to worry about your 17's not fitting the 87 civic if they fit the 88.

Well I'm buying the 88 CRX SI. I will post pictures of it as soon as I get it. I have never seen a CRX with this nice of a stock body. Thank you for all of your help with the compatibility.
