Default VAFC Question

I'm rolling stock gsr right now but my aem cai....i was wondering will it help if i just get a vafc first before anything...and you tune it without gear gears and cams? basically my question is can you tune it to help out when ur complete stock...

its pointless and also a waste of money to tune a stock setup, and then re-tune it with new parts
