Default 94 DEL SOL S SALEABLE??

Hey, I have a 94 del sol s that needs a new head gasket, and the engine has 160,000 on it. What do you guys think I could get for the car if I sold it for parts??? Should I pull it apart and sell it piece by piece, or sell the thing as a whole? The reason I am debating sellling it is that it is too cost prohibitive to drop a new engine in, and I dont know if replacing the head gasket will just promote the bottom end from going.

I take it you are not mechanically inclined? Not being a dick, but a head gasket is pretty easy to replace if the head isnt warped and so on. If the motor is shot just pick up a long block and throw that in there.

I am, and could do the work myself, if I had the time, and a place to do it; neither of which I do. The garage wants 1600 for a block transplant (!!), and the head gasket labor cost is retarded...but thanks for answering my question

Just fix the headgasket. It won't be more than 50 bucks or so and then you can sell it as a running car, which you can get more for than a parts car.

Id be more than willing to bet there's an experienced HT member somewhere in that area that would help out for some beer/pizza.

i doubt you are mech. incline. beacuse if u were you can do this on the street curb.. i know i would if that was my problem.. and the smartest thing to do is put in another long block and sell it for double or more than what ^^ is offering. i dont know about you, but unless you make 500 or more dollars per day. its worth of swapping. cause i would make time if i was in your shoes.

Have you had a professional tell you the head gasket is the problem? If not have it checked out.

If it is buy a new headgasket and pull the head and have it checked out by a machine shop and call it a day.

If you can't afford it and no one will loan you the money, take a loan out. If you just say F it and sell the car for a lousy $1500 or less you will kick yourself. You can take a loan out and have the work done, the sell your car for what is should be sold for, pay the loan off and still have plenty of money for a down payment on another car.

Make up your mind. Also If you have the time to part out the car you surly have the time to replace a head gasket if your at all mechanically inclined
