Default teg wont start?

k i have been having some issues for a while now i have come to find out a few things

1. There is a vacuum hole inside the throttle body. It never closes so I believe that is my FITV, (fast idle thermo valve) or IACV (air idle control valve).
I cleaned the IACV out but not the FITV, so the motor idle surges from 1,000 to 2200 RPM when warm. When I first start it the revs are almost @ 4,000

2. There is a spring inside the distributor cap that is all twisted to hell ?
I am almost sure that something is wrong there. That's the ignition coil right?

Aso is there anything Icould visually see in the rotor to see if there is anything wrong w/it?

Tanks for you help........

replace the spring in the distributor. seems like you have a miss fire, which is causing unsteady idle. maybe a new distributor is needed. You can take urs in to the autoshops to test for defects.

the one in the tbody would be your FITV the lil stepper motor on the back of the manifold is your IAC try cleaning it out with brake clean and also make sure your throttle cable isnt holding the plate open, i dont belive the motor can rev up to 4000 without the throttle being open

when you look at your rotor if their is alot of metal transfer or a burnt spot on it then it is a good idea to change it.......
