anyone ever break a rod??
i was wondering if anyone has ever broke an actual rod w/ a NA engine. not the rod bolt, but had the actual rod break in half. ive seen it happen to boosted engines.
someone said that forged rods were over kill for a non boosted engine and it got me thinking about the engine i plan to build in the next few years. but i think ill get rods anyways to be safe

i hydrolocked my stock gsr motor and bent 2 rods and broke 2 in half.
usually all motor rods are not likely to go,most people get them shot peen which is good enough, but its good piece of mind to have some forged rods in there.
plus if you buy aftermarket pistons you need aftermarket rods or else machine shop is gonna charge you $$$$ to make your stock rods fit.

I did, ran on a lil too lil oil.....my bad
But other than that, I think they pretty much fine.....except I would pay the extra dollars for piece of mind

you know what, i remember reading that about making the forged pistons fit the stock rods. rods are in my plans 100% now, no particular brand yet. im still far from starting this motor build. i need some money now.
