dont do it, its not worth the mess. get a test pipe for like 30 bucks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...=WDVW or make your own, save the oem cat as a back up.
i used a big metal thingy, ie crowbar. just shove it in there again and again until its clear. oh yea, i did it on my 91 4dr. ha. its the beater and th cat fell offf, so i said **** it, while its off, why not. i hate the earth
if u want to gut it out for now all u gotta do is take the cat out.....keep runnin water in it to get it softer...then bang dat shiet out.....i used a big pipe and hammer....

when doing my swap, the only B-series cat that I had was cloged to the point that you couldn't see light through it. Just got a big pry bar and bashed everything out until it was clear. It sounds like ****, but for a quick fix, Its ok.
thanks guys for your replys..
I just came back from GUTTing the CAT..
What I did was use the drill to drill the **** out of it... Theres only a little left in the end of the cat.. I cant reach it..
But i'll use the crowbar tommorow when he brings hes CRX..
I notice that the idle of the car was funny... and it sorta smells like eggs.. but you got to really try to smell it.
I have a old resinator from a civic and I installed it and it sounds pretty good..
Maybe if I GUT THE WHOLE thing it will not idle funny

its a federal fine if you are caught with a modified catalitic converter, in CT its $25,000. Im not shitting you, I asked the LT of the CT DMV personally when I went through a rebuild inspection. In other states its also very high, if not matched.
I had a high flow on my 91 Si and to be honest, all it did was smell and get me pulled over. The difference over stock or a test pipe for gains is NOT noticable, especially on a d16a6 motor.
Also figure smog testing, you will need the cat for that and its about $800 from honda, and about $150+ elsewhere. Do yourself the favor and wait a paycheck so you can get the highflow or test pipe. Then you at least have the option to switch back. I always kept every stock part when swapped parts.
btw: I hope you honestly dont mean that about the earth. you dont have to be a hippi and tree hug everything. But **** have some respect for it, you wouldnt be alive without it.

Its not worth the time. Dont do it. At the least, do like us South Carolina people do, and get a test pipe made from the muffler shop, and add it in place where your cat is.
