How to polish a lip?????

Hey guys, I've tried searching for "Polishing lip" "Polished Lip" and can't find the correct info.
I'd like to make this also into a write up.
At this moment, I'm in the process of restoring Racing Hart Tuners
I have already started using Aircraft paint stripper to remove the old paint so the picture below isn't how they look like at this moment.
But my question is, how do I polish the lip? what kind grit sand paper do I need to work with? and once the lip is smooth should I clear coat the lip?? or is there a protective spray I can put on the lip??
Thanks
This is how the rims looked like 2 days ago

and this is how they are going to come out

please help
thanks again

Edit: Also, is there a paint I can buy that I can paint my lip and it will come out as very reflective/polished?

Mask the lip off with tape, spray wheel. Then get various grit sandpaper going from like rough to fine. Start out with rough then use finer and finer sandpaper. After sanding get some polish and a rag. I dont know what grit paper to use, someone will respond.
okay there is alot of subjects about doing this but ill help you out cause im not doing anything lol
heres how i did my hx wheels:
jasco paint stripper or you can used aircraft from what i read but i used jasco
apply as much as you can it wont eat the metal or the tires
dont used sand paper used sheet metal its a step process so start from paint stripper and work your way to fine polished
pretty much repeat that process until you see it to polish
then finish off using mothers polishing wax either for chrome or just regular car wax i found that chrome car wax works good
everything you can find at home depot for about 30 bucks
hope this helps you!

I did mine last month, and It wsa the biggest pain in the *** ever, however my job was 10x harder than what you have.
Heres my story I picked up some white 16x7 Te37's for a good deal, im not a fan of white/white so I sent them to get powdercoated/polished lip. When I picked the up the place powdercoated the lip instead of painting it
2 months went by and I began to dislike it, so I finally gave in and started while on my Vacation last month.
Heres where things get shitty, before I could even get to metal I had to sand off not just the silver paint, but the original white paint. I had to put the car on jackstands and have the wheels spinning @ 60 mph
It took 18 hours to break through the paint on the inner lip Using I think it was 180 grit. For the outler lip I just used some Aircraft stripper, and sanded that one with the car on the ground. I did dry sanding from Grits 220-600 and then I wetsanded from there.
Grits
Started with 180 to get the paint off then
220
320
400
800
1000
1500
and then I finished it with
2000 grit
Then added some Mothers Polish and 2 1/2 days later after about 24 hours(actual labor time) of elbow grease
Heres the finshed product

Good luck It was a PITA, but it was worth it, and I couldn't have done it without that 18 pack of Bud Light

When I did the lip on mine, they were dull and faded with the clearcoat wearing off and stains embedded. I used 600, 800, 1000, 2000 grit wetsandpaper, then used some TurtleWax red rubbing compound, and finished up with Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish. It took about 10 hours total for the four rims, but the results were worth it. You can see the finished product in this post. I really wish I had pics of what they looked like before. It was night and day.
Good luck. Just takes time and elbow grease.
