Default Tuner Style Nuts with Extended Wheel Studs

Hi,

I'm posting this here as I figure only the drag racing guys will have this problem.

My car is a street/strip car and my new Motegi DP6 Wheels require a tuner style nut. Here is the problem. I have ARP extended wheel studs on my Drivehshaft Shop hubs and I want to keep them.

What tuner style nuts do you use? I don't want to have to remove my extended wheel studs just to install me new wheels.

Thanks!

If you get those 'Gorilla' locks that Discount Tire distributes, the end cap on it is really really thin, and can be ground off easily so that the stud can go all the way through it... then just run a tap through it, to clean up the threads on the bottom, and it would work fine. ... and the key is long enough that it'll accept the long stud and still be able to loosen and tighten the locks.

Of course it may not be worth it to do all of that, but i've used those Gorilla locks forever, and never had any problems with them (unlike someo ther brands out there), so its worth it to me for the peace of mind i guess...

We did the same thing and it worked out just fine.

Use your same lug nuts, but cut off the top of them.

Can't, I currently use allen key style nuts and they won't work with extended wheel studs.

Think I'm going to get the Muteki lugs. I 've heard the tool is long enough to still work with ARPs from DSS.

mark,
It's Ben, I had this issue too, on my Racing Hart cp-035's with the extended wheel studs in the front, Wheels Direct has the right open end lugs for this application, just take a existing lug to them and they can match up the right one, they are not too expensive at all. If you have any other questions give me a call on my cell....

I ordered a set of Muteki Open ended wheel nuts in silver from Evasive Motorsports. Should have them in around a week or so.

They have a H-T special for $32 shipping in USA and $42 shipped to Canada.
