My plan (size and model) too with my new 16" Subzeros..... www.onlinetires.com is the only place online that I've found prices for this tire. But, I plan to get them locally for around $135..... $125 seems like a good deal.... where from?

Rain traction, treadwear, and I'm finally getting smart in that cheap tires don't cut it! I tore through my 712's in about 25k miles and they hydro (in the wet) and slide (in the dry) very bad!

At least your tires last 25k miles! 712's aren't that bad... They're not R compounds or even the best summer tire, but they don't cost all that much either. Try Azenis' if you can find them. I think everyone should be pleasantly suprised.

BTW, if you're hydroplaning with 712's I think you're driving too fast in the rain!

I purchased mine from www.onlinetires.com

They're 'good tires' for the money.

Sidewalls are quite soft and they break loose on top of 1st gear on full throttle.

when you say sidewalls are soft
what do you mean

i don't plan on racing with them
they are for everyday driving around

softer sidewall basically means slower steering response.

this explains its predictable break away character when pushed hard.

softer sidewalls also gives ya that dreaded gfloaty feeling.....

i just purchased my Azenis in 215/45/16 and tracked them last week, i was quite dissapointed, still no where near as good as the re010's... and whoever it was that said it has stiff sidewalls is wrong, its soft as pie!

Well, I've got about 30% tread left on my 712's and if 60mph in the rain is too fast, then I guess I shouldn't be driving with them.

T1-Ss have a soft sidewall huh? Ugh, not what I wanted to hear, but will the sidewall of a 205/45/16 (fairly short) roll over or be mushy? 205/50/15 or 215/45/16 I can see being mushy (more sidewall to 'give') though. Anyone with insight or a new tire suggestion for us?

i agree, going down to a 45 series tire should help with the soft tirewall issue

I would recommend Michelin MXX3's(if you can still find them) or Pilot Sports in size 215/45/16's.

There's also:
Bridgestone RE010
Pirelli PZero Asim
Dunlop SP Sport 9k
Yoko A520

In 205/50/15's, my primary choice would be Bridgestone S-03's.
Bridgestone RE730's are great choice also.
