Default Decent Anti-Theft Devices?

I'm relatively new to the board but seem to notice alot of EG+/DCs getting stolen. I did a search and all I could find was sob stories or ecentric anti-theft devices (i.e. razorblades!). I want something a little more mainstream. No one does anything about car alarms anymore so I'd want something more effective. And why can I only post new posts and not reply to ANYTHING other than what I have started? That gets frustrating in the FS area. Otherwise I just read what others have written. Anyway, I know you can make kill switches and such from the cabin that require a flick prior to ignition but my luck the thing would trip on the freeway or something. I don't know enough about auto-electrical to diagnose any problems that would arise.

Get an autolock, alarm, kill switches... the more protection you have the better.

autolock is useless, they make a device that is made specifically to break it in seconds. someone posted the link on here already.

Steering wheel disconnect, kill switch, autolock, alarms, all help deter theft, but if a thief wants it, they will get it. Lowboy y0!

There are so many threads about this. Really, the best anti-theft measure is to have nothing worth stealing and full coverage insurance. Getting rid of bling helps (painting crap flat-black is good). kill switches and things will stop an amateur from stealing your car, but they'll still bust up your dash and take whatever they can. And if your kill switches pissed them off enough they'll bust out your windows or something. After all I've been through with the breakins, vandalization and theft of my HX, I realize that full coverage is my only real protection.

autolock is trash.

i got myself clifford G4 alarm with blackjax and wireless immobilizer (wireless unit that cuts the fuel pump. Even if the theif pulled out my alarm unit, car wont start. Ecu wont work. Alarm will still be going off, because of a built in battery backup in my siren.

i have to say that autolocks are worthless. they are a good deterrant for inexperienced thieves but are easily bypassed by normal thieves. two of my friend's cars were stolen with autolock installed on their clutch.

my setup includes 2 alarms, an autolock, re-routed hood cable, and a fuel cutoff switch.

i say install the cutoff switcha nd reroute ur hood release cable. both costs less than $10 and works better than most alarms.

1. first of all u need to locate ur fuel wire. i have a gen2 teg so i looked it up on g2ic
2. then u will need a 2 position switch(single pole single throw) and some wire. the smaller the switch the easier it is to hide it
3. cut the wire whereever u want
4. hide ur switch somewhere out of sight and somewhere thieves hopefully cant find it feeding it with the extra wire u bought
5. weld/fasten the two ends of ur cut fuel wire to the two ends of the switch. doesnt matter where the voltage and ground sides go

done. one position of the switch will connect the current for the fuel, the other position will disable the current. if the thief cant find ur switch, they cant start ur car even if they have ur car key .

gps tracking system, with a monitoring package is the way to go.

after some one gets past all your anti-thefts, and makes off with your ride, wouldn't it be nice to get a page or email telling you where it is?

i had compustar pager remote and fuel cut off on my hatch, it was broken into 2 times, the first time i lost my eclipse deck, im stupid and i didnt arm it.. the second time it paged me and i chased those punks with a snap on pry bar. the compustar is definately the best alarm ive had, and also you should re-route your hood release. i think this has been mentioned before. anyways if a someone wants your car bad enough they are going to take it. just my 2 cents.
