I have been told that port and polishing a head and putting on a C5 block is not a good idea......What does anyone else think? All comments are welcome......
depends on what your goal is. the c5 head its allready p&p from the factory. so unless you go with a huge port (turbo) or (big cams) then you dont want to mess with the itr port, since its made for the best velocity for the best valve oppening of the itr cams. 98ctr

I am going to either go super charger or try to stay all motor....I am looking for info on what to do besides build the block to give me alot of horses while staying all motor.....
Did they explain why it would'nt be a good idea? If you have the compression/cams and exhuast of the right type, anything that improves airflow is going to help, including P&P the head.
btw, ITR head is not p&p from the factory, the casting flash is just worked on.

Another great example of all the false information given on HT.........Now i know why the OG HT members are all gone and no longer post
The ITR head is not p&p'd from the factor, the valve seats are just very mildly worked, thats it..its more deburred than ported if you ask me.
And who said increasing air flow will hurt performance, show me to that person and let me have a talk with them.....

Where the hell did you come up with that information??????

I have to agree with you on that some people dont have a clue......Everyone is entiteled to an opinion but.......Not everyone should voice it.....So what would you suggest......?

So yea..porting ITR heads is a bad idea, you lose power

So you would suggest that I just build the block and put cams and cam gears into it....Is there anything else I can do to stay all motor....

Chose a porter which you think will do the best work...who ever it may be, RLZEngineering is one of the better people you can have do the port work for you, however it is pricey, but then again you get what you pay for...Alaniz is also a good choice...
I dont like portflwo, as i have seen a portflow head compared to a stock GSR head and the flow numbers were some what disapointing...
Whoever you deicde to go with, be sure to ask them to flow the head before and after, yes it will cost more money, but you will see the increase in air flow.
Let them know what you plan to do with the car, where you would like to make the most power, and let them do the rest, unless you have specific spec you want the head ported too..which i doubt you do after reading this thread.

if you go supercharged you would get a port for that set up. it is different than the all motor port. Volume vs. velocity. And yes porting can hurt a engine if its not done properlly. If you have a turbo port on a n/a car you will loose power since the ports are too big. 98ctr

for most setups....i.e street cars, the ITR head flows MORE THAN ENOUGH
but some good head work is never a bad thing...as long as you go to a GOOD headporter that ACTUALLY knows what they are doing
my suggestion is to talk to Brad Z from RLZ (MAX_CFM) he can tell you more than just about anyone on the site...
and m24x pwnz j00

They port and polished head (Stage 3), added ti valve & springs and reinforced the bottem end with crower rods & crankshaft + arias piston. Just that is putting 185 whp for me. I'm happy! I just need to add a few more things such as hondata, new cams and gears and tune...whacha think??? Sounds good to me...

You havent asked a "real question"
It depends on so many things.... its not a cut and dry answer.

I never said anything about i/e/h....I'm pretty sure if I did that with what I have now, I'll be pushing more that 200 to the wheels. What I did was to strengthen my internals. That's all. I havent tuned it either since I had it done. Dont get over yourself. The motor was built for autox for stock category. I'm pretty sure if I drop another 2G's, it will push 220+ N/A. But for now, I'm content with the results.

What did you do? Stock class autocross rules do not permit *any* engine mods...

Well, anything that was done was illegal, per the stock class rulebook.
You're allowed a .020" overbore and thats about it. No balancing, no port matching....
