HELP! replaced cv axle, now loud wobbling noise at 40km/h+?
ok replaced the pass side axle today, got into car, everything was fine, drove out of the shop, got onto the highway after about 15mins at around 110km/h i noticed a sligth wobbling sound, barely heard, g/f couldnt hear it at first, then about 5mins later, it was louder. now its there at 40km/h and up. i checked the joint to make sure its locked in trans, it is. there isnt anything i can see that is causing this. i did notice a little bit of trans oil coming from teh axle seal so i wondering maybe it fell off when i was installing the new axle, would this cause this noise? is there any balancing piece on a joint, like a spring or something? any help would be great
I've gotten a few crappy Autozone/Advanced Auto axles. I took it back, and it was exchanged for another.
There's good ones, and bad ones.
The OEM axles have a rubber donut on them, to act as a dampener.
None of the replacement ones have had that donut on there. Not sure if it made a difference or not though.

if you're like i had to do. i had to swap about 3-4 axles before getting the right one. finally had to go with the 93-97 del sol axles for some reason. and it did come with the rubber donut thing...all the others didn't.
rebuilt axels are crap.. some are not balanced correctly. the donut is like a weight to balance.. i hate the ones with welds.. i often ask then if they have ones without welds.. oh well u get what u pay.
