Looking to buy a prelude, need some insight: TypeSH or reg 5spd? need ur opinion
well i am selling my accord to get in the prelude.... i am gettin a manual but i cannot decide which one to get if money was not the concern.
97 Type SH or a regular 5spd?
i will definitely get i/h/e so any price diff in the parts? i have heard that there are diff enhausts/headers for type-sh vs. the standard...
are there performance diff between the 2? and i havent test drove any preludes yet (until i am ready) but does type-sh make a lot of diff in handling, like say during left turns or just on twisty roads?
and in general anything wrong with 97 preludes? (auto, manual, tpye-sh)?? thanks for your input

there are many problems with the SS transmission, and some of the 5spds have a 5th gear grind (double clucthing can solve it)
I have a type SH, but the ATTS doesnt work, so its basically a base. If you are Auto-Xing, or any type of racing with turns, go SH. If you want a drag car, the Base model is best. less weight. same engine in both cars. barely any changes, none are noticeable. With the SH you get a leather shift ****, steering wheel i think (?), rims are different, you have ATTS, (Active Torque Transfer System), and the all important intermittent windshield wiper speed.
a few other differences, none major

actually if you're auto-x'ing i think you'd rather have a base 5spd with a quaife or other LSD.

what u mean ATTS doesnt work? u dont notice it during driving or something is wrong with your ATTS system? my biggest concern is taht if u notice a handling diff while driving like taking turns or changing lanes and such
ATTS is cool, but unless you track the car all the time you won't see the benefit of the system. You're better off saving the weight and potential issues and get a base. Plus the base is cheaper.

Yeah I would go with the base. If you work on your own car there are some extra components for the atts that can be a pain. Get a base and limited slip.

havent had any experience with ATTS, but i hear it has trouble handling large increases in hp...dont know how far you plan on building it up though so this may not be an issue...
p.s. forget about the SS......forget about it.
i drove one once, i forgot about it. 5spd all the way man!
