Meguiar's Detail Day for Autopians
Here are some pictures from Meguiar's Detail Day in Irvine. If the pictures aren't that great you can blame Bunmango haha. He should have more coming.
Bunmango's 4dr GSR:

My car:

Some guy's GSR

Both of us have new wheels - me TE37s, him = Rotas

)into the classroom for a little lecture...
Meguiar's little pump system with all of their cleaners... that little box next to the hose controls the concentration of each mixture

all of our free goody bags lined up
Here's Mike demonstrating the proper use of a Porter Cable random orbital buffer
a fellow Autopian's GSR... has Racing Hart Type-C2's on it w/ an ITR lip... really clean...
some random guy's 3000GT...
a REALLY CLEAN Mini-Cooper... that thing has NO SWIRLS whatsoever! It also has the clear protective film bra installed, which can't be noticed unless you're up close...
all of these products were at our disposal...
half of Meguiar's entire product line...
and the other half, along with a few bottles from competitors...
finally, the part that John has been waiting for... the pics of the iCy HoT sTuNNa! On his way over to the event, JMS JT said he got hit up at a stoplight by a kid in a 3000GT VR4 (twin-turbo, AWD for those who don't know) Needless to say, John accepted the offer, and the VR4 got owned

dJ SMiLiZ y0! bling bling!

notice the Lamborghini-style doors...
and the how low the pants are sagging...
When he pulled up, his car was making this god-awful ticking noise... I overheard one of the other 3000GT owners saying that it was a common problem, something to do with carbon buildup on the valves. John and I approached the sTuNNa and his friend, and his friend was clowning on him because he lost to an Integra (his friend was driving behind them when this happened) Anyhow, the guy claimed that he had a boost leak and some other ****... oh well

We should get a Honda-Tech detail day together at Meguiar's... we'd need about 30 people to go, and it would be at their headquarters in Irvine, so more than likely only SoCal residents need apply. If you're interested, send me an IM, just to gauge interest in an event like this. The lectures and demonstrations were really useful, and both Mike and Lynn along with the professional detailers that post on Autopia were totally friendly and very helpful. Not to mention you got free pizza and a goody bag of Meguiar's products

The only downside is that I hit a semi-truck tire on my way home, and it caused some of my paint to crack:
after the tire hit:

I was able to get the black stuff off w/ some clay:

and the rest of it w/ Meguiar's DACP:

there's still some spiderwebbing going on, but it's not too bad.

I prefer Meguiar's polishes. If you look on Autopia.org the most popular polishes are Meguiar's (DACP, SFP) and Menzerna. What good is wax without a good surface prep.
Zaino is overrated, too much work, and IMO looks somewhat plastic. Great shine though but you can do just as good or better with less money/product. Zaino looks great on black though (but attracts a lot of dust).

haha... there's an inside joke over at Autopia about how there are Zaino zealots saying that Zaino > * and they refuse to try anything else (I'm not saying that EVERY Zaino user is like this, but there are a lot.) Well at the Meguiar's event when we took our group photo, someone said "Say Zaino!" (instead of "cheese") and everybody started cracking up. Gotta love detailing humour

Thanks... any recommendations on sideskirts though? Not too many companies make them for sedans, and I'm not too fond of the WW ones...

It was by the industrial area and there was no one around. Guy started reving on me so I was like so why not (I usually don't but honestly I wanted to line up against a turbo car). Anyways, he got owned pretty hard. So hard that when I was talking to him his friend said "man I can't believe you got owned by an INTEGRA!" (His friend was following him in his BMW). I was like Integra eh? Not all Integras are slow. His friend replied, "Well, has like 350hp)." rofl. You had to be there.

I mix and match. If you need a recommendation just let us know what color your paint is, if it's a factory paint job, single stage paint, etc..
