Default d16z6 Block Rebuild.. Difficult?

I have a bearing messed up in the z6 thats in my del sol right now.. In my vans rear cargo area, i have a complete z6 engine.. It has 200,000k miles on it, so Im not sure if it is safe to just bolt my head to and install..

I want to find out where to buy the rebuild parts, and also, how I could check to see if the engine is safe to use without a rebuild? I can drop the oil pan, but I have no clue what to inspect to see if it is useable..

I really need to be able to drive my car normally again.. I can barely keep with traffic shifting at 2,500rpms in every gear..

BTW anyone in the KY/TN/IN area that could give me tips/help.. awesome!

Help would be awesome

im about to rebuld my z6 also, use forged internals, **** the oem pieces of crap, it'll only be like 800 and the shop to balance it. you'll be happier in the long run

if ur gonna rebuild, definitely go with aftermarket internals, just make sure u decide now if ur going N/A or FI in the future cuz there's no turning back z6 engines are pretty cheap so if ur not gonna go with aftermarket internals, might as well just buy a new block with less clicks.

if i remember correctly, you said in a previous post that you were gonna ditch the turbo. in that case you can probably get a fairly good deal on oem parts from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com. maybe even throw some d16a6 pistons in there for a little more compression . if you changed your mind and go for the f/i rebuild, look for eagle h-beams and weisco pistons from http://www.raceeng.com. its like around 800 for both, and its good for like 300whp or maybe even more

i just rebuilt mine. i used clevite standard bearings.
i just spun a rod bearing on weds. rod and pistons still look goods, but i may need a new hone and rings. im having a shop mic everything out and order the bearings this time

Buy a Helms manual, it'll tell you how to check, rebuild, and install EVERYTHING.
